Arbeitstreffen mit Daniel Wesener, Sprecher für Kultur und Haushalt der Fraktion Bündnis 90/Die Grünen

Am 6. Februar 2017 konstituierte sich der Kulturausschuss im Abgeordnetenhauses von Berlin. Am gleichen Tag traf sich der Rat für die Künste zu einem abendlichen Arbeitstreffen mit einem der kulturpolitischen Sprecher der Regierungskoalition: Daniel Wesener, Parlamentarischer Geschäftsführer der Fraktion Bündnis 90/Die Grünen und Sprecher für Kultur und Haushalt, war zusammen mit seinem persönlichen Referenten Philmon Ghirmai zu Gast im Projektraum Grüntaler9.
Daniel Wesener stellte die kulturpolitische Agenda seiner Partei im Kontext der Regierungskoalition vor und wies auf die kulturpolitischen Prioritäten des Senats wie Diversity und Investitionsförderung für kulturelle Liegenschaften hin. Diskutiert wurden Themen wie Struktur und finanzielle Ausstattung der Kulturförderung in Berlin, Sicherung der bestehenden und Schaffung neuer Räume für Kunst und Kultur, Überarbeitung der Vergabe von Mitteln aus der City Tax für Kunst und Kultur, Neuauflage des Hauptstadtkulturvertrages, Stärkung von Kunst und Kultur in den Bezirken, Verzahnung der Kulturverwaltung mit verwandten Bereichen wie Stadtentwicklung, Bildung, Wirtschaft.
Die Mitglieder des Rates für die Künste begrüßten die in Aussicht gestellte Erhöhung des Kulturetats, insbesondere die bessere finanzielle Ausstattung der Freien Szene in Berlin, betonten aber auch, dass nur durch eine Überarbeitung und Präzisierung der Förderinstrumente sowie eine konstruktive und frühzeitige Zusammenarbeit mit der Kulturverwaltung eine zeitgemäße und nachhaltige Kulturförderung zu erreichen sei.
Daniel Wesener betonte die wichtige Rolle von Institutionen wie dem Rat für die Künste als kompetenter Gesprächspartner, Berater, aber auch Korrektiv und kritischer Beobachter der Berliner Kulturpolitik und kündigte eine enge Zusammenarbeit insbesondere auch bei den anstehenden parlamentarischen Beratungen zum Doppelhaushalt 2018/2019 an.

On February 6, 2017, the Cultural Affairs Committee convened at the Berlin House of Representatives. On the same day the Council for the Arts met for an evening working meeting with one of the coalition spokespersons for cultural policy: Daniel Wesener, Parliamentary Manager of the Alliance 90/Green Party’s parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives and spokesman for culture and the budget, was a guest in the project space Grüntaler9, together with his personal advisor, Philmon Hhirmai.
Daniel Wesener presented his party’s cultural policy agenda within the context of the coalition and highlighted the Senate’s priorities for cultural policy such as diversity and the promotion of investment for cultural real estate. Themes discussed included the structure and financial resources for cultural funding in Berlin, the securing of existing spaces and the creation of new locations for art and culture, the revision of the granting of resources from the City Tax for art and culture, the new edition of the Capital City Cultural Agreement, the strengthening of art and culture in the districts, the coordination of the cultural administration with related areas such as urban development, education, and the economy.
The members of the Council for the Arts welcomed the planned increase in the culture budget, in particular the greater financial resources for the independent scene in Berlin. However, they emphasized that contemporary, sustainable cultural funding can only be achieved through a revision and sharpening of the funding instruments as well as constructive and timely cooperation with the cultural administration.
Daniel Wesener emphasized the important role of institutions such as the Council for the Arts as a competent discussion partner and advisor, but also as a corrective and critical observer of Berlin’s cultural policy, and announced a close cooperation, in particular during the upcoming parliamentary consultations on the biennial budget for 2018/19.
